The DRAGON'S DEN
2020-2021 10TH ISSUE (5 FEBRUARY)
As we are unable to hold our regular book week this year, this March the SSIS Libraries are providing opportunities for students and teachers to participate in a range of literary activities. Throughout March activities and lessons have been planned to support literature, the written and spoken word, and the enjoyment of books.
The 2nd of February was a special day for Nursery children as they welcomed their parents to join them to celebrate China’s most important holiday, Chinese New Year. To bring a festive spirit to the celebration, parents and students were invited to wear traditional Chinese clothes or something red.
On Tuesday 19th January, Grade 4 had the privilege to host their parents again for the second event of the year. The Where We Are in Place and Time unit is a collaborative unit with the Chinese teaching staff, where students explore culture and heritage.
It will soon be time to celebrate Chinese New Year and with it the beginning of the Second Semester. We have been working hard on a number of exciting and important Second Semester initiatives that will support Elementary students and families.
