Flowers, caps, and gowns adorned SSIS last weekend as students of the Class of 2022 celebrated their graduation.
On May 27th, SSIS was delighted to host an award and graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievements of our Grade 12 students at the SSIS campus, which was joined by students, parents, teachers and friends. This year, 67 students from 24 countries and areas graduated from SSIS.
Despite the uncertainty caused by the pandemic in the past few months, SSIS has continued to plan for a full graduation ceremony with all possible options. Since the situation has become stabilized in Suzhou, we are very lucky to be able to hold this in-person graduation ceremony, bringing much more excitement as we look forward to award ceremonies, celebrations, prom, and of course - graduation!
The celebration started with the traditional parade. Draped in blue caps and gowns, SSIS Grade 12 students made their short walk over to the foyer. From there, each senior from the Class of 2022 marched through the hallways, where students from Elementary School and Secondary School, teachers and friends lined up and cheered them on.
Mr. Samer Khouri, Head of School spoke during the ceremony, “Schools are the lighthouses to help guide our loved ones and open doors for their future. It is my hope that during these times we have prepared our children, students to be resilient. Be able to cope with what is not expected and know that we can overcome.”
During the ceremony, Class of 2022 alumni Gabriel Zheng Ning Sim was awarded the Mike Scott Award, for his achievement of making the greatest positive contribution to the life of school.
Class of 2022 alumni Anni Yao was awarded the CAS Award, for her distinguished performance completing the CAS requirements in the spirit of the programme.
Class of 2022 alumni Seongyeon Son and Chaeeun Lee were awarded the Academic Achievement Award, in recognition of their consistently high academic achievement.
Each student walked across the stage, flipped their tassels, and received their diplomas from Secondary Principal Ms. Burden and DP Coordinator Mr. Mueller. This is the culmination of their completing their final two years of high school.
Finally, all graduates were presented to the Board Chair and were accepted as the graduated Class of 2022 of Suzhou Singapore International School. The ceremony ended with the traditional throwing of the graduation cap in the air!
Congratulations to the Class of 2022. All of your hard work and perseverance have led you to this proud moment in your lives. Best wishes on your next adventure!
