How to make PE classes more exciting and fun during remote learning? Check out our Virtual Sports Day!

Last Friday May 7th, SSIS held a Virtual Sports Day for Early Years and Elementary students. Students were able to participate in a wide range of activities organized by our wonderful PE department, at home or outside in locations around their compound. Our lovely parent volunteers also offered the help to “host” the students in the same compound to make it more exciting!

For Early Years, everyone gathered online in one giant meeting room with all teachers, students and parents from ELC, PreK and Kindergarten classes. All students dressed in their class t-shirt and ran, danced, jumped, raced while balancing and even played limbo! For many students it was the first time they got to see faces of students from other classes or grade levels after a long time. The event was a success and some students then joined their older brothers or sisters to participate Elementary Sports Day in the afternoon as well.

Our Elementary students were challenged to participate in several activities in the afternoon, including 50m SPRINT, standing broad jump, throwing and endurance run and etc. Luckily, with the support from our teachers and many parent volunteers, we were able to coordinate some mini get-togethers in some compounds, where SSIS families from the same compound could host small competitions of running, throwing and jumping for more excitement!

All students pushed themselves hard, our parents and teachers went above and beyond to cheer for them, making signs, scored charts, assigning stations and even created more fun activities, filming and making video clips for the afternoon! It was very heartwarming to see everyone coming together and make this community event a huge success!
