SSIS offers a safe learning environment for children and adults, where children feel free to question their learning, and are encouraged to challenge their surroundings. Students are involved in all areas of school life beyond the classroom. We understand and value the trust that you place in us when you choose SSIS for your child.
On Saturday, November 19, the SSIS Model United Nations (MUN) group hosted students from Dulwich College for a mini-conference.
This full-day event gave students the opportunity to practice their writing and public speaking skills while furthering understanding about the United Nations, educating participants about world issues and promoting peace and the work of the United Nations through cooperation and diplomacy.
This event was largely student-run and served as practice for larger conferences, held throughout the year, including our annual SUZMUN conference in the spring. This mini-conference served as a valuable opportunity for students new to MUN to get practice with their resolution writing and oration skills, with middle school students David (Grade 6) and Harry (Grade 8) getting accolades at the closing ceremony for their contributions. It also gave students more familiar with MUN the opportunity to chair committees, making them more competitive when applying to chair at larger conferences.
