As remote learning continues, our teachers had kept thinking and creating fun ideas to motivate students during their online learning and to boost their engagement.
- It’s time to be “weird”!
Last week, our elementary students participated the Weird Week. Each day there’s different theme for students to be excited about: Moustache Monday, Team Spirit Tuesday, Wonderful Wednesday, Thankful Thursday and Formal Friday. All students and parents were encouraged to dress up and be silly. The kids were pumped up. It’s was a great week!
- Online “Book Week”
SSIS Book week is always a fun and highly anticipated calendar event every year, this year it had been adjusted and was held online last week with a different experience, according to the remote learning needs.
Our elementary librarian Ms. Tracy Smith had kept some of the excitement and fun of book week ‘alive’. Students would listening to/ watching age-appropriate author talks that have been recorded by various authors for this year’s Emirates Lit-Fest virtual edition.
Elementary students also had a story shared to them read by Ms. Tracy - it’s a new book about book week at a school- with some surprise drop-in ‘book character’ guests joining in along the way.
SSIS has also worked with the bookseller to create the online book fair, offering great access to many new & classic books suitable for all children's ages, to make reading time fun and rewarding!
We hope to see you back in our school library soon!
