The Elementary Student council organise various events and initiatives across the elementary school, with the aim of building community and giving our students a voice.
One of these events is our Elementary School Talent Show. This year the response was overwhelming with almost 40 different individuals and groups auditioning to be part of the show. We narrowed the selection down but still had 20 acts, which meant not one show, but two!
We had a range of performers; pianists, singers, dancers, actors, poets and even a drummer; with students from G1 to G5.
Our fabulous Dance and Drama teacher, Ms Amy and Music teacher, Ms Rudine, supported the students to get performance ready but the hard work and practice was all theirs.
With Mr Murray on technical support and the Student Council presenting and supporting back stage, the stage was set.
Each child did an amazing job and really had the chance to shine. The audience was supportive and enthusiastic, all making for two fabulous shows. Performing on the stage is so different to the classroom setting and it takes courage to step out in front of your classmates. We were so proud of each performer, they really gave their best.
Hopefully this will inspire some more students to be risk takers and have a go. The elementary production will be starting soon with lots of opportunities for students to be involved and for more SSIS talent to shine.
