Making the best preparation for the upcoming school year

This week, SSIS campus has been filled with excitement everywhere.

All of our returning teachers are back to school, with our new teachers joining us, we've had an exciting and fruitful induction week on campus. Teachers have participated in various trainings and workshops, led by either outside professional trainers, or our very own experienced learning leaders, to make the best preparation and be ready for the upcoming school year.

These interactive trainings and workshops have offered our teachers great opportunities to collaborate, working on lesson planning and sharing hands-on strategies. Everyone has been actively engaged and working as one SSIS community. They also attended departmental and team meetings, preparing the classrooms and materials, making sure to welcome our students and families with the highest professional standards.

At SSIS we are crafting a document outlining our Philosophy and Beliefs for literacy and numeracy which will guide best teaching practices school-wide. Teachers have attended collaborative training as we prepare to implement two newly adopted programs: The Reading and Writing Workshop from the Teachers College at Columbia University for English Literacy, and Reveal Mathematics for Mathematics program. These programs will ensure an aligned, rigorous, articulated program from Kindergarten to grade 10 as we prepare our students for the IB Diploma Program.

There are also some new and exciting facility upgrades in the new school year including a beautiful new Early Years Learning Centre, a new fitness room, a new elementary drama and dance classroom.

We are ready and waiting! It will be a very exiting year ahead of us. We are confident to build up a challenging but successful pathway for our students in the future. Looking forward to seeing all our returning and new families soon.
