Each grade level has a different borrowing allowance. The number of books can vary depending on age, grade, and needs. It is generally between 2 and 4 books at a time. Returns and borrowings can and does take place outside of scheduled lesson times.  

Through the library, students have access to databases to research information and they also have the opportunity to recommend or suggest new books for the library.

Currently, each library session is up to a 40-minute period on class schedules.

• ELC and Pre-K - This year they come once a week for a story with their homeroom teacher have, and the opportunity to borrow books from our Early Year’s library. 
• KG and Grade 1 - come every week for a lesson and borrowing time. Every other week the lesson is an information literacy lesson taken by the teacher-librarian.  
• Grade 2 - have a focused information literacy lesson and borrowing time every week with the teacher- librarian.
• Grades 3-5 - have 2 library slots per week. One is a focused information literacy lesson with the teacher-librarian and the second is a read and borrow session taken by the homeroom teacher.  

We have the Annual Panda Award Books reading voting opportunities, we have had book swap meet, read-aloud/ guest readers, and the Battle of the Books (BoB) reading challenge for Grade 5.  

Through-out the year we have many areas of focus, some small, some large, some connected to world calendar events, some to unit connections, and others to traditions of the school. 

We encourage parents to join and become members of the library too. Yes, parents can become members and check out up to 9 books at a time from the library. 

Families can use the library after school each day. Elementary children must be supervised reading, borrowing, or doing homework by a parent/ adult caregiver.
